We asked Integrated Care Systems (ICSs) to share which programme of work has had the most positive impact on respiratory care or outcomes locally over the last year. This is highlighted with a star in the dashboard and in the text below.
We then asked if there were other recent initiatives taking place in their ICS that they would like to showcase to other health systems.
What the data shows
We categorised the activities that ICSs shared into six themes:
- access to care
- diagnostics
- health inequalities
- care interventions
- organisational development/ joint working
- public health
Trends within these themes show that most ICSs have introduced new care interventions over the last twelve months. Diagnostics emerged as a dominant theme too, with activity to support diagnostic testing listed as the most significant programme of work in the last year for the 13 ICSs who answered this question.
The frequency and depth of organisational development/ joint working activity in ICSs is a welcome trend, especially as whole system working/ local relationships is listed as a significant barrier to delivering improved respiratory outcomes in the Challenges section.
