You will be sent an award letter and Terms and Conditions by Asthma + Lung UK's Research team. You will be expected to start work on your project within one year of receipt of these documents.
We're here to help
If you have any questions about research reporting, managing your grant, or require a no cost extension, contact us by email.
Budget claims
Claims for expenditure against your grant will be reimbursed on receipt of invoices submitted to the Asthma + Lung UK finance Research team quarterly in arrears, quoting your grant number. A full breakdown should be provided for all costs claimed in an invoice - this should include details of salary costs, itemised breakdown of consumables costs, itemised breakdown of equipment costs etc. Individual items that are in excess of £500 (e.g. equipment or consumables costs) should be accompanied by a copy of the supplier’s invoice/receipt.
Changes to your project
Any changes to your project need to be approved in writing by Asthma + Lung UK. This includes staff changes, amendments to protocol, virements of costs between budget codes, and requests for no-cost extensions.
Progress and outcome reporting
For all awards with duration longer than 12 months, Asthma + Lung UK requires an annual interim report and a final report at the end of the grant. More information is available on our Progress Reporting page.
Intellectual property
Asthma + Lung UK encourages commercial exploitation of the results from our funded research. This is primarily to ensure that we enhance the likelihood that research findings are translated more swiftly into patient benefit. Revenue also allows us to fund further research in the future.
Grantholders should be aware of potential intellectual property (IP) that may result from their projects and should keep us informed from an early stage. The host institution should ensure that ownership of the IP arising from work funded in whole or in part by Asthma + Lung UK vests in the host institution (or its associated technology transfer company). All Asthma + Lung UK funded researchers, their host institutions and associated technology transfer companies should ensure the protection and exploitation of IP. In line with our standard terms and conditions for awards, you should approach Asthma + Lung UK for written consent before IP is exploited (such consent not to be unreasonably withheld).
Your data
Asthma + Lung UK complies with the requirements of the Data Protection Act 1998 with regard to the collection, storage, processing and disclosure of personal information and is committed to upholding the Act's core data protection principles.
