Schools air pollution monitoring project – stakeholder report

This report showcases the method and findings of our pilot air pollution monitoring project, which took place at primary and secondary schools across London. The pilot ran for 18 months from September 2022 and 200 schools were signed up to the project.

As we know, toxic air is harmful for anyone to breathe, but hits vulnerable lungs, especially children’s lungs, the hardest. Breathing in toxic air can leave children with stunted lung growth and can reduce life expectancy. This project was motivated by London’s air quality and the affect that it has on people’s health, especially children and their growing lungs.

We hope this report exhibits the hard work from all the schools involved and shows their journeys to reduce children’s exposure to toxic air and make improvements in their communities. We would like to thank The Kusuma Trust for their funding of this pilot.
