Transforming investment in lung research and innovation

Six million people in the UK currently have a lung condition. Someone dies from one every 5 minutes.

We’re fighting for better respiratory outcomes and to make the UK the best place in the world to do lung research.

By tripling public investment in lung research

Increase investment into life-saving research and innovation to £150 million over the next five years.

Our latest report – Making the UK a Lung Research Superpower – explains the need for this investment and the ways it could drive real change for people suffering with lung conditions.

By investing in innovation that puts people with lung conditions first

New technologies are changing the face of healthcare, but no-one should be left behind. Innovation needs to have people with lung conditions and their unmet needs at its centre, focusing on serving under-served communities first and as a priority.

Funding the future of mesothelioma research

Asthma + Lung UK support the Asbestos Victims Support Groups Forum’s campaign for Cape/Altrad to pay £10 million towards medical research to find a cure for mesothelioma. The charity has a history of conducting medical research in mesothelioma and a £10 million contribution from Cape/Altrad would be a significant amount to put towards better understanding this devastating disease.
